ReciScan Terms of Use

These Terms of Use apply to the ReciScan mobile app, website, Portal, ReciScan Connect Chrome extension, connected services, cloud cookbooks, Recipe Drawer, recipe contributions, and cookbook printing services (together, the “Services”). In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the provider of ReciScan, and “you” refers to the person using the Services or the organization they are authorized to represent.
By using the Services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. Additional purchase terms shown before checkout and feature-specific agreements may also apply. Nothing in these terms removes rights that applicable law does not allow you to waive.
Accounts and Eligibility
You must be legally able to enter into this agreement, or use the Services with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms. The Services are not intended for direct use by children under 13. An authorized adult should submit information on a child's behalf. If you use ReciScan for an organization, you must have authority to act for it.
Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials and connected devices, and notify support@reciscan.app if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account, including access you give collaborators or connected apps.
Your Recipes, Photos, and Other Content
You retain whatever ownership and other rights you have in recipes, photographs, illustrations, cookbook designs, and other material you provide. You are responsible for having the rights, permissions, or other lawful basis needed to scan, upload, edit, share, print, or sell that material. A source link or attribution does not, by itself, grant permission to reproduce someone else's protected work.
You give ReciScan a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, format, display, transmit, and print your content only as needed to provide the Services you use, fulfill your instructions and orders, and operate and protect those Services. We may allow our service providers to perform those tasks on our behalf. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to ReciScan or authorize unrelated advertising use of private cookbook content.
This license continues for as long as needed for those purposes, including completing existing orders and retaining records or backups as described in the Privacy Policy. Removing content or closing an account cannot recall books already printed, downloads already made, or independent copies held by people with whom you shared it.
Sharing and Recipe Contributions
Choose recipients and permissions carefully. Depending on the feature and access you grant, collaborators may edit cookbook content, copy recipes, or prepare previews and orders. Public links, Share Codes, and published storefront or campaign pages may be forwarded to others.
When you submit a recipe or image to another person's cookbook or campaign, you authorize the recipient to review, edit, attribute, and include it in that project, including its intended printing and distribution. Do not contribute content you are not entitled to share for that purpose. Contact the organizer about changes or withdrawal; copies already distributed or orders already in production may not be recoverable.
AI Processing and Recipe Accuracy
ReciScan may use automated tools and AI to transcribe or organize recipes. These tools can omit ingredients, misread quantities or units, invent details, or produce other errors. Review and correct results before saving, sharing, cooking, or printing. The Chrome extension may send captured text for AI processing after you initiate capture, before you choose to import a recipe, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Review every recipe. ReciScan does not verify food safety, allergen information, cooking temperatures, preservation methods, nutritional information, or suitability for a particular diet or medical condition. Use appropriate food-safety guidance and qualified advice where needed.
Subscriptions and Paid Features
Prices, billing periods, renewal terms, included features, and applicable taxes are presented in the relevant offer or checkout. Recurring subscriptions renew as disclosed when you subscribe unless canceled through the billing provider. Apple or Google manages subscriptions purchased through its app store; use that store's subscription settings to cancel. Website subscribers can use Manage Stripe billing in the Portal's Subscription & devices section. Contact support if you need help locating your billing provider.
Deleting the app, disconnecting a device, or stopping use of ReciScan does not itself cancel a subscription. Cancellation generally stops future renewal and leaves access through the paid period, subject to refunds, payment reversals, the provider's terms, and applicable law. Refund requests are handled through the relevant billing provider or ReciScan support, as appropriate. These terms do not limit refunds or other remedies required by law.
When subscription access ends, premium features may become unavailable. A cookbook containing premium designs may require renewed access or removal of those features before previews or printing can continue. Review any removal confirmation carefully: disabled designs may need to be configured again later. Subscription access does not include printed books or shipping unless an offer expressly says so.
Cookbook Previews, Printing, and Orders
You are responsible for reviewing the latest interior and cover previews before ordering, including text, photos, attribution, page order, blank pages, cropping, margins, and shipping information. Edits made after an order is submitted do not automatically change that order. On-screen previews are a guide; printed colors and trimming can vary within normal production tolerances.
Estimates are not final charges. Review the price, quantity, shipping method, taxes, and other terms at checkout. Production and delivery dates are estimates unless expressly guaranteed. ReciScan uses printing, payment, and delivery providers to fulfill orders.
Books are custom printed. Changes or cancellations may no longer be possible after production begins. If an order is damaged, defective, incorrect, missing, or otherwise requires support, contact support@reciscan.app with your order information so we can review available remedies. Do not send payment-card details by email. Any applicable cancellation, refund, replacement, or consumer-protection rights remain in effect.
Campaigns and Storefronts
Pledge campaigns record interest in reserving books; a pledge is not a completed online purchase. Campaign organizers handle their campaign's payment collection, supporter communications, and fulfillment arrangements under the Campaign Organizer Terms. ReciScan does not guarantee that a campaign will reach its goal or that pledges will result in completed orders.
Selling through a ReciScan storefront is also subject to the Seller Agreement. Those feature-specific agreements control if they conflict with these general terms regarding the activity they cover, subject always to rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
Connected Apps and Third-Party Services
Features may rely on app stores, AI providers, payment processors, printers, delivery services, or other third parties. Their applicable terms may also govern your use of their services. ReciScan is not responsible for third-party websites or content merely because the Services link to them.
Review the permissions requested by connected apps before authorizing access. You can revoke supported connections through the available account controls. Revocation stops future authorized access but does not undo completed actions or delete copies already received by another service. Feature availability and usage allowances may vary by plan, account, platform, and service availability.
Acceptable Use
You may use ReciScan to create and manage personal, community, fundraising, and commercial cookbook projects as permitted by these terms and any applicable feature-specific agreement. You must not:
- Violate applicable law or another person's intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights.
- Upload malicious software, attempt unauthorized access, disrupt the Services, or bypass authentication, payment, permission, or usage controls.
- Use accounts, public forms, sharing features, or connected services for fraud, impersonation, harassment, or unsolicited bulk messages.
- Collect or disclose another person's private information without an appropriate lawful basis.
- Use automation in a way that circumvents published limits or interferes with other users' access. Authorized integrations remain subject to their granted permissions and limits.
ReciScan Materials
The software, branding, templates, and other materials supplied by ReciScan remain owned by ReciScan or their respective licensors. We permit you to use them through the Services and in cookbook outputs as the relevant feature allows. This does not authorize resale of our software or templates as standalone products, removal of required notices, or misleading use of ReciScan branding.
Privacy, Storage, and Backups
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, processed, shared, and retained. Local cookbooks and cloud cookbooks have different storage and recovery behavior. Keep independent backups or exports of important content where available, and read backup and restore prompts carefully. A restore may replace an existing local library.
Account closure, subscription cancellation, connection revocation, and content deletion are separate actions. For account or data requests, contact support. Legal, security, order, and backup records may remain as described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability, Suspension, and Ending Use
We may maintain, update, change, or discontinue features and may impose reasonable usage limits to operate and protect the Services. We do not promise uninterrupted access, permanent availability of every feature, or unlimited storage or processing. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice of material service discontinuation and an opportunity to retrieve available content.
We may restrict access or remove content when reasonably necessary to address violations of these terms, unlawful activity, security risks, or legal requirements. We will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve an issue where appropriate, unless doing so would create risk or be prohibited by law. You may stop using the Services at any time; separately cancel recurring subscriptions to stop renewal. Ending access does not remove obligations relating to completed orders, authorized charges, or rights that must survive under applicable law.
Disclaimers and Responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free results, or fitness for a particular purpose. You remain responsible for reviewing your content and deciding how to use it. These provisions do not exclude warranties or remedies that the law requires.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ReciScan is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost business opportunities or anticipated profits, arising from use of the Services. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Governing Law and Resolving Questions
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections or rights to bring claims in a court available under the laws that apply where you live.
Please contact support first if you have a question or dispute so we can try to resolve it. Doing so is not a requirement that limits your right to seek a remedy or meet a legal deadline. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the Services or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised terms with an updated date and provide additional notice of material changes where required. Changes apply prospectively; any acceptance or notice required by applicable law will be obtained or provided. If you do not agree to an update, stop using the affected Services and cancel any subscription you do not want to renew.
