This Privacy Policy describes how ReciScan handles information through the ReciScan mobile app, website, ReciScan Portal, public recipe contribution pages, pledge campaign pages, storefronts, and print-order services.
Personal Information We Collect
The information collected depends on which ReciScan features you use:
- App and Recipe Data: Recipes, cookbook settings, images, covers, and related content you add or scan. Core cookbook data is generally stored on your device. Information is transmitted to ReciScan or its service providers when you use features such as AI transcription, sharing, contribution, backup, PDF hosting, or printing.
- Portal Account Data: Email address, authentication identifiers, name, organization, phone number, verification status, Portal identifier, Seller status, and storefront settings.
- Campaign Organizer Data: Campaign name and description, expected price, goal, deadline, image, public contact email, recipe Share Code, email preferences, and campaign status.
- Pledge Supporter Data: Name, email address, optional phone number, requested quantity, pledge date, and campaign association. Organizers may add notes and manually record amounts collected or payment status. ReciScan does not collect card or banking information on a public pledge page.
- Public Recipe Contributions: Contributor-supplied recipe text, name or attribution included with the recipe, and optional recipe photo submitted through a Share Code link.
- Book Order and Storefront Data: Cookbook details, order identifiers, buyer email, shipping address, phone number, selected shipping method, order status, and storefront purchase details needed to quote, print, fulfill, and support an order.
- Payment and Subscription Data: Stripe processes website and storefront payments. Apple and Google process mobile subscriptions. ReciScan receives transaction identifiers, status, totals, and other records needed to verify purchases and provide service, but does not store full card or bank-account numbers.
- Technical, Security, and Usage Data: Device identifiers, app events, browser information, page views, approximate location derived by analytics providers, error logs, and security data. Public pledge and recipe forms may use an IP-derived hash and submission timestamps for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the app, Portal, recipe contribution, pledge campaign, storefront, printing, shipping, and reprint features.
- Authenticate accounts, protect public forms, prevent fraud and abuse, and troubleshoot errors.
- Send verification messages, pledge confirmations, organizer notifications, receipts, shipping updates, and support communications.
- Provide organizers with campaign-management tools, pledge totals, payment-tracking fields, and exports.
- Process and fulfill paid orders and calculate Seller payouts.
- Understand product usage and improve ReciScan.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce platform policies.
Campaign Organizers and Pledge Information
When you submit a public pledge, the organizer identified on that campaign page can view and export your name, email address, optional phone number, quantity, campaign balance information, and pledge status. The organizer uses this information to communicate about pricing, payment, printing, pickup, delivery, or cancellation.
Campaign payments are collected outside ReciScan. Questions or correction requests about a specific pledge should first be sent to the public campaign contact. Organizers may retain independent copies of information they export; their handling of those copies is their responsibility under the Campaign Organizer Terms.
Service Providers and Third Parties
ReciScan uses service providers to deliver specific functions. Depending on the feature, information may be processed by:
- OpenAI for AI-assisted recipe transcription and processing.
- Stripe for payments, Seller onboarding, and payouts.
- Apple and Google for mobile subscriptions and app distribution.
- Lulu for cookbook printing and fulfillment.
- Firebase for Portal authentication and related account services.
- Cloudflare Turnstile for public-form abuse prevention.
- Email-delivery, hosting, storage, logging, and analytics providers needed to operate ReciScan.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. ReciScan does not sell or rent pledge supporter contact information.
Sharing Your Personal Information
We share information only as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including:
- With the organizer of a pledge campaign to administer and fulfill that campaign.
- With service providers that authenticate accounts, process content, send messages, prevent abuse, process payments, print books, or fulfill orders.
- When you direct us to share information, such as submitting a recipe through another user's Share Code.
- To comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or respond to valid legal process.
- In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate notice and safeguards.
Data Retention and Security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to operate the requested service, maintain campaign and order records, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and support legitimate business operations. Retention periods vary by data type. Some information may remain temporarily in backups or security logs after deletion.
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards intended to protect information. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, and ReciScan cannot guarantee absolute security. Campaign organizers should protect downloaded CSV files and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Your Choices and Requests
You may update certain account, campaign, pledge, or storefront information through the applicable ReciScan interface. You may also contact support@reciscan.app to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information associated with ReciScan. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when required or permitted for security, legal, transaction, or recordkeeping purposes.
For a supporter pledge, contact the campaign organizer for the fastest correction. You may also contact ReciScan if you cannot reach the organizer.
Children's Privacy
ReciScan's accounts, public pledge forms, and recipe contribution forms are not intended for direct use by children under 13. A parent, guardian, teacher, coach, or other authorized adult should submit information on a child's behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information directly, contact support@reciscan.app so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
