A simple step-by-step guide to turning your cookbook into a storefront
With the ReciScan Portal, you can sell any cookbook you have created and printed with the ReciScan app directly to friends, family, or the public and get paid through Stripe. This guide walks you through the full process from start to finish.
Just looking to make a cookbook? Download the app here. Fundraising? Be sure to also check out the fundraiser guide for tips.
In just a few steps, you can:
- Turn a printed cookbook into a product.
- Share a link.
- Earn money from every sale.
Create Your ReciScan Portal Account
The ReciScan Portal is a separate website from the mobile app. You do not need to link it to your app account. Just create a portal account to get started.
Once logged in:
- Complete your profile details.
- You will then see the option to Become a Seller.
- Click Become a Seller (A) to unlock the Seller tab (B).
Become a Seller & Connect Stripe
After clicking Become a Seller, you will:
- Agree to the seller agreement.
- Complete a short Stripe onboarding flow.
- Connect your bank account for payouts.
Stripe handles payments securely and deposits your earnings directly to your bank account. Once this is complete, the Seller tab becomes your home base.
Explore the Seller Dashboard
The Seller tab gives you everything you need to manage sales and payouts in one place.
- Open the Stripe Dashboard to view balances and payouts.
- Set up or edit your Storefront.
- View recent Orders and sale details.
Set Up Your Storefront
Your storefront is where buyers see your cookbooks. Setting it up is intentionally simple.
- Storefront title (your name, group, or fundraiser).
- Short description explaining what you are selling.
- You can edit this anytime.
Find Your Book Order ID in the App
To sell a cookbook, ReciScan needs to know which printed book you are offering. Use the Order ID from any successful book order.
In the ReciScan app:
- Open the menu.
- Tap Book Orders.
- Copy the Order ID from a completed order.
You can sell any cookbook you have created and printed, past or future, as long as you have the Order ID.
The Order ID appears in your order confirmation email, printed receipt, and the app order history for 60 days.
Add a Book to Your Storefront
Now head back to the Seller tab and add your book.
- Paste the Order ID.
- Add a description for buyers.
- Set your markup price.
Your markup is your profit. It is added to every sale and paid out through Stripe.
Manage Your Books & Share Links
Once added, your books appear in your storefront list. You can:
- Share your main storefront link (A).
- Copy a direct product link for any book (B).
- Edit or remove books at any time (C).
These links are perfect for text messages, email, social media, and fundraiser pages.
Track Sales & Payouts
Every sale appears in your Orders table.
- Order date.
- Book sold.
- Earnings.
- Payout status.
For full financial details, you can jump into the Stripe Dashboard at any time.
